GR2
is pleased to present E no e (Pictures of Pictures), an exhibition of
recent prints by the celebrated Japanese artist, Ai Yamaguchi.
The exhibition will consist of print work, including lithographs, etchings,
and digital prints created between 2002 and 2006.
The works will range from medium-size, full color lithographs to small,
black and white etching sets.
All of the print works on display were produced in collaboration with
master printer Chiaki Kayama of Edition Works, Tokyo.
In addition to editioned prints, the exhibition will also showcase Yamaguchi's
new line of confectionary goods created for the store S and O (Sweets
and Objects).
Located in Tokyo's trendy Omotesando
Hills shopping center, S and O has teamed up with artists such as
Yoshitomo Nara, Yayoi Kusama, and others to create high-end, collectible
sweets.
Originally trained in textile design, Yamaguchi's work combines the refined
aesthetics inherent in classical Japanese culture with the pop culture
sensibilities of contemporary Japanese animation.
Her use of unique materials, attention to detail, and engaging narrative
help transport the viewer into a world filled with lush patterns and rich
history.
